Finding the Right Auto Accessories

Hello, my name is Francis and this is my auto accessories blog. Last year, I purchased a vintage camper van. I had always dreamt of owning a camper van so I could drive around Australia, exploring the towns, cities and the countryside. However, when I finally took ownership of the van, I quickly realised why it had been for sale at such a low price. The van was missing a lot of accessories such as the original gear stick, the wing mirrors and the seat covers. Thankfully, my friend who is an auto expert, taught me how to find the perfect accessories for the van.

Tips to Remember When Installing Bench Seats in Your Vehicle

by Roger Jackson

Bench seats are an attractive option in commercial vehicles due to their ability to take more passengers than other types of commercial seats can. This article discusses some helpful tips that you should bear in mind as you install new commercial bench seats in your vehicle.

Examine Compatibility

The biggest precaution that you should exercise when selecting bench seats for your vehicle is their compatibility with that vehicle. Pay special attention to the seatbelt design and bolt spacing in your vehicle so that you select bench seats that are designed for those dimensions. Use a tape measure to get the exact dimensions so that you confirm that the bench seats will fit once you begin to install them.

Use a Lubricant

The holes into which the bench seats can be installed may often have an accumulation of rust due to the impact of road debris as you drive. You will have an easier time during the installation project in case you apply some general purpose lubricant in those holes prior to installing the seats. It will then become easy to align the bolts that hold the seats in place. The lubricant is also helpful for bench seats that use latches instead of bolts. The anchors will easily slide into the latches once you apply the lubricant.

Mind the Wiring

Some bench seats usually have some form of wiring in them. That wiring may be operating the heating system of that seat. The wiring can also be intended to ease the process of reclining the seat. You need to carefully trace the wiring to the connection point where you can unclip the wires before you remove the old seats and replace them with new ones. You should only fix the wiring once you are sure that the seat aligns properly. You can then torque the bolts holding the seat in place.

Get Help

You should avoid installing the bench seats without someone to help you. It is easier to lift the seat into position when you have help. You will also find it easier to align the bolts or latches if someone is holding each end of the bench seat. Chances of accidental damage or injuries will then be kept minimal during this team effort.

The bench seats that you buy may have modifications that didn't exist in the old set. You should therefore read the installation manual carefully so that you apply the recommendations given in order to avoid damaging the seat. Ask for expert help in case you get any problems that you are unable to resolve during the installation.
